Amongst famous people have a great love for this natural heritage site was Theodore Roosevelt who spent a lot of free time in this part of the country with hiking and hunting past times and was responsible for focusing the nation’s awareness to protect and safeguard the magnificent panorama of The Grand Canyon. Major John Wesley, the Civil War veteran with one arm, fearlessly explored the canyon and the Colorado River. Amongst the first inhabitants of the canyon were Native American tribes that used to live in the canyon’s many caves.
