Barcelona is a very large city, with a population of over 1.6 million in the city proper and over three million in the metro area. Reservations and room descriptions can be very hard to manage when traveling to Spain. Barcelona hotels are easily booked at this site. Barcelona has been an important mercantile city for hundreds of years. Barcelona boasts a very complete higher education system, with the University of Barcelona, the Polytechnic University of Catelonia, and many smaller institutions. Lower education is largely served by the public school system, though there is a good representation of Catholic schools in the city.
