Relaxation and hypnosis pretty much go hand in hand - although they aren’t exactly the same thing. Indeed many specialists who train clients in msucle relaxation avoid and distance themselves from hypnotic suggestions. Probably the best approach is learn relaxation as a seperate skill and then combine with it with hypnosis during clinical hypnosis therapy sessions. One of the best known methods is progressive msucle relaxation - originally developed by Edmund Jacobson. Indeed it was Jacobson who really introduced the work relaxation into modern usage - before that it simply meant doing something different than work. But it was Jacobson who specially defined relaxation as muscles being relaxed.
