Benefits of Omega 3, 6 and 9 Essential Fatty Acids

We have all heard of the benefits of omega 3, 6 and 9 essential fatty acids, and how they are good for us. But did you know that our bodies could naturally make Omega 9, but not the other two?

You cannot manufacture your own Omega 3 and Omega 6 so you will have to make sure your diet includes plenty of both. Seeing that our diets are so high in Omega 6, the Omega 3:Omega 6 ratio may be anywhere from 1:20 to 1:40, you will want to ensure that your Omega 3 intake is higher.

Dietary Sources of Omega 3

·Flax / walnuts

·Oily fish

·Seal

Dietary Sources of Omega 6

·Plants and vegetables (especially in cooking oils)

Another good way to increase your Omega 3 intake is to use supplements.
