I’ve been driving the same car for almost nine years. It was my first soccer mom vehicle and is the classic minivan. It still runs pretty good and we’ve never had any major problems with it to this point. Of course, I’d love to have something a bit nicer, but don’t anticipate cashing in the New York lottery numbers anytime soon. In the meantime, I’ll just have to take what I have and keep it alive for a couple more years. Luckily, it looks really good on the outside still, even those it is really pretty old. It was used when we bought it, after all.

I strongly believe in being prepared. Before I took the bar exam I took a prep class so that I would be sure that I was prepared. I did not want to be one of those people who needed to take the test again and again. Now, that I want to the the patent bar exam, I have just taken a prep test online. I am busy with work so I did not have the time to sit in a class room. Taking the class online in my spare time was a really good option for me and I feel well prepared now.

I got a call from my brother the other day and he told me that he had some really great news that he wanted to tell me.  When I asked him what it was, he told me that he had just gotten hired as a professor at a university teaching the mormon doctrine. I was very excited for him because he has been studying it for many many years, and his dream was to be able to teach it at a collegiate level.  I told him that we would probably have some sort of party to celebrate at my place some time in the next week.

There is a constant dialogue going on in most of our heads, and much of it is self-referential, or what is called self talk. We say things like “I did it again,” or “that always happens to me,” or “I never get it right.” In others words we engage in a lot of negativity about ourselves. It not only influences the quality of each day, but also breeds ideas and habits that are self destructive. A solution?
