Communicate – Its important that you get in touch with the tax collector or you will make matters worse. If you talk to them they will often agree to a payment plan. But when they don’t hear from you they think you are unwilling to pay.Find out how much you owe in penalties. If the interest rate is too high on a payment plan, you might want to try to get the loan from some other place.Talk to your mortgage company. Can you put those property tax payments on your mortgage payments?If you don’t pay those property taxes, there may be a tax lien put on your property and it will eventually go to the highest bidder.
