Jon Carder’s MojoPages combines a searchable online business directory with a social network that provides consumer reviews of local merchants, restaurants, service providers, and other businesses. According to Carder, MojoPages’ “… people-powered technology provides rankings for local businesses by analyzing the reviewers and using an algorithm that weights each reviewer’s credibility.”
Carder capitalized on the fact that ‘local search’ is a $7 billion market in the United States alone, and that over half of Americans use the Internet instead of a traditional Yellow Pages to search for the products and services they desire. According to his current business plan, Jon Carder’s MojoPages will reach profitability in 2011.
